Prompt: [livejournal.com profile] iyissekiwa : #153 - Aisle or Isle

--

Kagome tapped the dull pencil on the notebook, clicking her teeth as the black scribbles on the lined paper began to twist into something other than words. Her imagination and complete lack there-of inspiration seemed to have took a plummet through the roof as she half listened to the droning of the TV overhead.

The empty lobby just seemed to add to the vacant thought she had just been working off of a few minutes prior. Outside the motel office, the storm that had blanketed the night’s sky earlier that evening, began to take a toll for the worse.

Breaking the silence, the office phone rang, catching Kagome off-guard, “Isle of Paradise Motel,” she answered in her professional voice, which was just her best non-zombie way, “this is Kagome speaking.”

Seeing as how it was a wrong number, Kagome sighed heavily and replaced the phone on the cradle, the thunder outside crackling loudly, causing a massive power surge through the main office. Another heavy sigh slipped past her lips as Kagome watched the power flicker and go out, the television humming quietly before the static made a hushed pop.

“And here I thought I wanted something interesting to happen tonight,” Kagome yawned in boredom.

The car horn outside on the main highway sliced through the numbing sound of the pelting rain.

Squealing tires, a crack of thunder, crashing metal on metal.

Kagome gasped and stood up, rushing around the desk, forgetting all motel protocol as she pushed the door open and entered into the rain. She ran across the parking lot to the haphazardly parked vehicle, lights beaming straight at the twisted metal of what looked like a motorcycle.

She held in a started whimper, listening to the woman’s cry of utter panic, “I hit him! Can you find him?!”

Kagome took a deep breath, blinking past the rain drops that had gathered on her lashes as she pushed her now soaked hair out of her face, “Calm down and we’ll find him,” she sounded more confident that she felt as she searched through the debris the headlights illuminated.

“Oh my god! He’s over here!”

Kagome covered her mouth as she rounded the side of the car, her eyes barely focusing on the crumpled body of a what could have been a man. Swallowing hard, Kagome froze, unsure of what to do.
