Hissing in pain, Kagome tried desperately to ease the throbbing pain in the small of her back as her unborn child continued to kick about in her womb. “I swear your son kicks like a demon on steroids,” Kagome growled out another string of obscenities.
“Here,” Inuyasha whispered, pulling her against his bare chest as he slowly lowered his hands to her hips, massaging circles into her skin.
She leaned her head back and released a calming breath, covering Inuyasha’s hands with her own, before reaching back over her head and twining her fingers through his long black hair.
“You are so handsome on the new moon,” she said, rubbing her fingertip along the shell of his human ear before dropping her hands to her lap.
Inuyasha chuckled as he eased her forward, careful of her distended belly, his masculine hands continuing their ministrations up her back. “You don’t think I’m handsome the rest of the month?”
“I do,” she laughed, cradling her belly as she breathed deeply, enjoying Inuyasha’s affection and that he was so willing to help her ease the pain. For long minutes they sat together on the edge of their shared futon. The embers smoldered in the hearth, tossing warm dancing colors and shadows against the walls of their home.
“Problem solved?” he mumbled against her neck as he pressed his lips tenderly there, his hands making their way up to her shoulders to massage away the kinks from her stress.
Kagome smiled gently, “That helps.”
