“Nezumi,” Shion whispered, tears glimmering in his eyes.
Nezumi’s gaze shifted from his usual aloof seriousness to a calm understanding, a small upturn of his lips betraying the smile he was trying to hold back. He reached out across the table to caress Shion’s cheek, tracing his thumb along the scar that garlanded the pale skin.
“It was a long time ago,” Nezumi said, eyes watching his thumb as he rubbed it along the soft membrane of Shion’s bottom lip. He paused his actions, letting the warm breath touch his bare hand before he pulled it back to his side of the table. “Do we have to speak about it more than we should?”
“You’re back?” Shion’s bottom lip trembled, Nezumi’s eyes completely entranced by the small movement that made heat shoot up his spine.
With an inhaled breath, Nezumi tore his eyes away, instead sipping on the cocoa that had been all but neglected, “For now at least,” he mumbled, leaning back in his chair.
Shion swallowed, biting at his bottom lip as he rubbed his fingers on the mug of cocoa in his own hands, “I guess that’s enough to ask for.”
“I guess,” Nezumi said, looking off, back to examining the room, their conversation having gone flat and quiet.
