writerverse : Challenge #28: Drabble Tree
--
The monster’s attack was swift and powerful, knocking Jude onto his back, the rush of air leaving his lungs just as quickly. The rise of dust obscured his view, but he could hear Milla and Alvin taking care of the rest of the monsters, while he tried to sit up.
“It’s pretty tough keeping you alive,” Alvin said, spinning his gun around his finger, before slipping it into his holster, offering his hand to Jude.
“I’m sorry,” Jude coughed, feeling the ache in his chest as he took Alvin’s hand, “Thanks for that though.”
“Hey, not a problem, don’t worry about it,” Alvin grinned, patting Jude’s back, dusting off the dirt.
“We’re good enough to move on?” Milla asked, sheathing her sword as to which Alvin and Jude shared a knowing look, Alvin shrugging his shoulders.
“Yeah, good to go.”
