“Mei! Stop! Listen to me!” Yamato grabbed her arm, the hurt he felt at her turning away from him had already overwhelmed him to the breaking point. “Why won’t you let me explain myself?” He couldn’t stop the tears that streaked down his cheeks.
She swallowed back hard, and shoved his hand away, the glare she tossed at him, deadlier than any in the past, “There is nothing that I want to hear from you right now,” Mei’s fists balled, her stride carrying her farther from him faster this time.
“I love you Mei!” Yamato screamed, the anguish tearing at him as he stomped his foot down hard on the concrete. “Why don’t you believe me?”
Mei shook her head, not bothering to face him, her voice quiet and empty, “Love me,” her voice was sour, “because love doesn’t exist and I have tried everything else.”
“Mei!” he brushed his shaggy hair from his face, the fight leaving him as he watched her continue to walk away from him.
“Goodbye, Kurosawa,” she called after him, her voice sarcastic, something so foreign of her, leaving him crushed and broken.
