The Breach was expansive, pulsing in quick succession as the fade rained demons upon Thedas.
At every pulse, Leliana watched the mark flare on the prisoner's hand. The eerie green glow from the fade sparking on the woman's palm in time with the Breach in the sky, must have been painful to say in the least – the mage in front of her screaming out with each wave that shook even the ground they treaded upon.
Leliana turned narrowed eyes on the elven apostate who had mysteriously joined them, “You said that the mark is killing her?”
“That is correct,” Solas bowed his head, eyes hooded with an expression she could not read.
“Of course it is,” the dwarf laughed, his gaze on his crossbow before he slipped it back into the harness he wore, “Shit like this always has a plot like that.”
Cassandra snorted, crossing her arms, “This isn't one of your books, Varric.”
The dwarf gave a brief shrug of his shoulders and brushed off dirt from the lapels of his duster coat, not bothering to retort.
“Could we start contemplating on how I'm going to get up there instead?” Evelyn grumbled loudly, hands on her hips as she stared up into the sky at the swirling clouds. “If you all keep standing around talking about me dying, the window we have is going to close.” The mage raised her arm, the mark glowing eerily on the palm of her hand. “And for your information, that's the wrong thing that we need closing right now.”
“This rift is the key,” Solas motioned to the almost translucent crystallized scar that had seemingly just sheered through the veil. “It is going to need to be opened and then sealed properly.”
Varric groaned, slipping his crossbow from the harness again, “Of course that would mean demons.”
“It usually does,” Evelyn mumbled, her grey eyes never leaving the rift, her marked hand fisted tightly at her side.
Leliana gave a curt nod, steeling her veneer as she motioned to the soldiers behind her, “Surround the rubble of the temple. We need to be prepared.”
“Get ready or not,” Cassandra roared.
