Prompt: [livejournal.com profile] writerverse : Challenge #19 - Criss Cross Apple Sauce (Phase 13)

“That star... see the brightest one there,” Yuri pointed for his companion's benefit, “That is Vesperia.”

“Do you miss it?” Luke's voice was soft, his gaze never leaving Yuri as he asked a question that had been bothering him lately.

The brunette gave a shrug and pointed to the sky again, “And that one there...”

“Yuri,” Luke urged, his hand reaching out to lower his companion's arm, drawing his attention to him in all the same method, “Do you miss it? I mean, being in the Imperial Knights?”

The warrior at his side, pulled from Luke's grasp, his eyes lowered to the wristguard he wore on his left arm. He stared hard at the bodhi blastia core that decorated the center of it, reminding him of a time when everything had been simpler.

No, not simpler, it was just as screwed up as it was now; however to him, at the time, it had been hidden right under the surface.

Yuri shook his head, before turning his attention back to the sky, “I don't.”

“Some times you seem like you do,” Luke said, his voice lower than it had been before.

“And do you miss Auldrant?” Yuri pressed, diverting the conversation from himself.

With a shake of his head, Luke replied calmly, “I'm just a replica of the real Luke fon Fabre, created through fomicry technology. I was never suppose to exist, and yet... I do...” Luke paused, his throat catching on his words. He swallowed the emotion that was welling up as he continued after he had cleared his throat, “I don't miss that life though.”

“You sure?”

“Lorelei's powers saved me and for that I'm grateful. I have no regrets, no plans for change, or even to go back. Even if I had a way to leave this world and return to Auldrant... I wouldn't want to leave... you...” Luke swallowed, turning his gaze away as he tried to hide the simple fact that he had started to flush at the tiniest mention of his feelings for the warrior by his side.

Yuri gave a quick nod, reaching over to pull Luke against his side. After the fading moment drifted them into a comfortable silence, Yuri pointed back to the night's sky, “You see that one?”

“Yeah.”

“That star... reminds me of you.”

And it was all Luke needed.
