Having lost both the games and his dignity, Zack squatted, heart heavy with despondence, his buster blade laying in the dirt a few feet away forgotten. Terra hovered over him, offering an outstretched hand, “Hey, don’t feel so bad,” his voice was calm.
Zack gave a half meaningful smirk and shook his head, letting the taller male help him to a stand, “Eh, I’ll get over it,” he mumbled, rubbing the back of his neck.
Terra blinked, watching the boy, feeling almost a lost sense of déjà vu. He chuckled low in his throat and reached out to ruffle Zack’s dark hair, “I know you will.”
The blue eyes that met his, reminding him so much of Ven, that he felt a pang of heartache for leaving behind his best friend. Terra cleared his throat and cuffed Zack’s shoulder in a reassuring gesture, “At least you can say you’re free of Hades?” he joked, giving Zack his award winning smile.
Returning his smile with a grin of his own, Zack took a few steps back and dropped into his squatting position, working his muscles of his legs as he went through the motions a few times, “And I have you to thank.”
Terra shrugged and turned his eyes skyward, “No need.” He chuckled and raised his hand in a half wave, “But hey, gotta run.”
Zack nodded, “See ya?”
“You bet’cha!” Terra called, taking to a jog towards the stadium doors.
Zack watched on, slowly realizing he had gained a friend in Terra. Now that he had control over his body again he could set out and search for his way home. It had been a long time since he’d seen his world. So long that he hardly remembered his friends that he hoped were waiting on him to return.
