The even sound of her breathing kept his attention, his fingers idly trailing in small circles on her shoulder as she rested comfortably against his abdomen. Alistair watched Solona inhale and exhale slowly, memorizing the contours of her gentle features, now ladled with the weariness of command and travel she had not been accustomed to those many months ago – a time that was almost as if it had not happened at all.

He brushed a stray lock of hair from her face, his warm hand softly caressing her cheek before he laid a kiss to her temple. Alistair shifted to get a little more comfortable on the bed roll, even with Solona's elbow jabbing hard into his ribs. He didn't bother moving her as it was a pain he was perhaps fine with, as long as it was caused by the lovely woman against him.

Outside of the tent he could hear the low conversations between Wynne and Zevran, with occasional input from Bodhan every once and a while as the fire crackled strong.

Alistair inhaled, releasing it with a small grin as he pulled Solona closer to him, the pain in his ribs hurting all the more, but he didn't care.

And in that moment, he knew... this was the perfect life for him.
