The room was filled with only the dim moonlight that filtered through the large window over Ventus’ narrow bed. Terra gripped the doorknob in his hand before quietly stepping into the dark room, gently closing the door behind him. The door closed with a firm click, before filling the room with silence, all but the soft breathing of the boy who slumbered on, unknowing of his friendly intruder.
Terra crossed the room in a few long strides, his bare feet cushioned on the carpeted floor. At the side of Ventus’ bed, Terra paused, a little unsure of what his next move would be. After all, Ventus was new around here and if he woke up to find some strange guy in his bed, well…
Master Eraqus would just scold him furiously then.
The brunette eased his knee onto the mattress, while lifting the covers ever so slightly. Terra was half glad that the boy was facing away from him instead of at him, if he had been, it probably would have made him pause a lot longer. When he got situated under the covers, Terra scooted close to Ventus, slipping his arm ever so gently under the boy’s head, hoping Ven didn’t notice the change in cushion. He tugged him against his chest and loosely hugged him.
Now, he thought, what was he actually doing here.
It just seemed the right place for him, after all, what else could he do for this broken boy Master Xehanort had brought to them. He just felt like this was all he could do for him, to ease that empty vessel he hoped one day would be whole again. Terra sighed contently, feeling like his good deed was going to accomplish something as he pulled Ventus even closer against his chest, hand clasp tightly around the boy’s waist.
This was right, Terra thought, slowly drifting off to sleep, warm and content, listening to Ventus’ soft breathing.
